Low FODMAP Chocolate Mousse

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

Quick, Easy, Single Serving for when you're craving something sweet

This easy dessert can work as a quick sweet treat or as an elegant dish to serve at a dinner party if you dress it up a little!

The Great British Baking Show Dessert Week certainly inspired me to try this new idea! A mousse was not something that I ventured into much before, but it's such a great light option. You can also customize it a lot with different flavorings and milk choices etc.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsps of Butter (melted)

  • 1/3 Cup of Lactose Free milk of choice ( I use Fair Life Skim Milk)

  • 1 tsp of flour (used for skim milk, just a pinch will do for for full fat milk)

  • 1/8 cup of powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp of cocoa powder

  • Making it pretty? Top with any of the following:

    • Mint leaf

    • Rasperries

    • An orange slice

Directions

  1. Normally, mousse is made with heavy cream, but because that's not quite low fodmap, this version uses milk and butter as a heavy cream substitute.

  2. Melt the butter and mix carefully with the lactose free milk till clearly mixed. A slow mixing is best.

  3. Add the flour and using a hand mixer or a whisk whip/mix up the mixture till it thickens considerably (likely for about 5 minutes by hand 3 or so with a hand mixer). It should be a heavier consistency.

  4. Add in the cocoa powder and powered sugar and mix thoroughly. Transfer to a serving dish of you choosing and enjoy :)

Try it!
