Spooky Brownie Medley!

Low Fodmap, fun, and delicious!


Get your Spook on this Halloween with all kinds of ghosts, goblins, ghouls, and gourds! With decorations based on mummies, Book from Hocus Pocus, Pumpkin Patches, and graveyards, we have something for everyone. These are incredibly easy to make/decorate and you can truly choose to deck them out however you please!

Brownies are a great treat! Who doesn't love a classic brownie? These brownies, however, are fudgy and delicious with simple great ingredients-plus Low FODMAP! The great decorations and treats a top just add another layer of sweetness that adds a little something special.


Bake up these treats for your own Halloween spooktacular!

Recipe:

The brownie recipe itself comes from: Butternut Bakery

BUT check out my Low FODMAP notes below to make sure that you're keeping it LF!

*Options: I 1.5x the recipe and put the leftover batter after I filled the 8x8 pan into a greased mini muffin pan (filled 10). Worked well!

Low FODMAP Notes:

*Replace bittersweet and milk chocolate chips with dark chocolate chips or chunks in order to decrease lactose content

*If you are especially agitated by the fructans in regular AP flour you can replace with a mix of almond and coconut flour for a gluten free bake. It will slightly change the texture-but should not be anything crazy.


Decorating Tips:

  1. Book, Hocus Pocus

    1. Materials

      1. candy decorating eyes

      2. white frosting (about 4 spoonfuls for 8 brownies)

      3. black food dye or black decorating frosting (about about 4 spoonfuls for 8 brownies)

      4. 2 sandwich bags

    2. Directions:

      1. Have a batch of black and a batch of gray frosting ready

      2. Place each of the colors in a sandwich bag and cut a very small hole in the corner

      3. Squeeze like a pastry bag

    3. Designs:

      1. Gray- decorate with a curvy line along the left edge, two little squiggles in right corner, and circle around candy eye

      2. Black-make curvy stitched lines across the brownie

  2. Pumpkin Patch:

    1. Materials:

      1. mellowcreme pumpkins (8)

      2. Black died frosting

      3. Oreos (4)

    2. Directions:

      1. Place oreos in closed quart bag and roll over and hit with rolling pin until small crumbs have formed

      2. Spread or squeeze a little bit of frosting on each brownie

      3. place a little touch of frosting on the bottom on each pumpkin and place one on each brownie

      4. cover rest of frosted brownie with oreo crumbs

  3. Mummy Brownies

    1. Materials:

      1. Candy eyes

      2. White frosting

      3. sandwich bag

    2. Directions:

      1. Place about a handful of white frosting in a sandwich bag (about 4 spoonfuls for 8 brownies)

      2. cut a small hole in the corner of the sandwich bag

      3. squeeze lines diagonally across the brownie back and forth

      4. place candy eyes on one of the lines relatively in the middle of each brownie

  4. Optional addition: Graveyard

    1. Directions:

      1. If you have any leftover gray/black and Oreos you can decorate a few of the brownies with a tombstone with the gray and write RIP with the blank

      2. Then you can spread some black frosting around the rest of the brownie and cover with Oreo crumbs .
