A Classic for my family, made "Low FODMAP" as much as possible.
Recipe from Sally's Bake Blog

My extended family members have been making soda bread for as long as I can remember, but I had never baked it myself. As I was participating in a baking collaboration for the Great British Bake Off, I was inspired to finally try and bake some during bread week! I was so excited with how it turned out and am even more excited to share it with you all! Enjoy the link to the recipe and Low FODMAP notes. Can Bread be Low-FODMAP? It depends on your personal triggers. I am in the personalization phase and the FODMAP ingredients of most breads don't trigger me a lot. If you know that such ingredients are big triggers, then you many want to try using a gluten-free flour or trying of my other recipes rather than this one!
Irish Soda bread is a classic for many Irish families. I obviously am from the US, but my great grandparents were from Ireland and my family continued a few traditions. I was so excited to finally participate in the tradition as well with my modifications. I would encourage you all to give it a try (especially around St. Patrick's Day ☘️)
The Recipe itself is from Sally's Bake Blog, but I have added how I made it Low FOMAP below!
Low FODMAP Notes
*To reduce FODMAP content of Bread, use almond flour!
-Bread can be a tricky one for Low FODMAP. Usually breads like sourdough and gluten free breads are best for those on the Low FODMAP diet. Making this Low FODMAP by using a different flour such as almond flour is a great way to reduce the fodmap content of the bread! I personally find that bread/ fructose/frustans/oliosaccharides in bread are not a trigger for me, so I used all purpose flour. Try whatever you know to work for you! If not yet in the personalization phase (phase 3), I would definitely recommend using a gluten-free flour.
*Buttermilk substitute: 1 cup of unflavored almond milk to 1 tablespoon of lemon juice for each cup of buttermilk called for.
*I did add the raisins which is common to add to soda bread in the US. Raisins are Low FODMAP below a 1 tablespoon serving. Beyond that the fructan content gets too high. Thus, eating 1-2 slices is good, but I would watch it beyond that.
Brands:
-Califia Farms unsweetened almond milk!
